RE-ENVISIONING LPCC
Some buildings hold more than people — they hold memory. The Laramie Plains Civic Center is one of them, and ALCES was honored to partner with LPCC to help tell its story.
Together, we designed interpretive materials that bring the building's rich and layered history to life for the public. Drawing from LPCC's archival collections and historical documents, we shaped that material into an accessible, engaging exhibit — one that invites visitors to pause and connect with the generations of community life that have unfolded within these walls. From the building's origins through its evolving role as a gathering place for Laramie and Albany County, the exhibit traces a story that is at once local and deeply human.
This collaboration was about more than historical preservation. It was about making history feel present and relevant — helping community members see themselves as part of an ongoing story rather than observers of a distant past. By bringing these archives into a public-facing format, we worked to deepen understanding of the Civic Center's significance and strengthen its identity as a living site of cultural and historical memory.
We're proud to have contributed to a space that has meant so much to so many, and to have helped ensure that meaning is visible to all who walk through its doors.
