Centering people. Elevating place. Creating together.
What the name carries
Alces (al·suhz) is the genus and species name for the moose — a creature deeply associated with Wyoming, yet not native to this state's constructed boundaries. Like the moose, people have migrated through and made home in this landscape for generations.
At Alces, we believe being a Wyomingite is not defined by permanence, but by presence: how we connect to place, honor layered histories, and contribute to the unfolding story of this land.
Alces Community Works is a nonprofit public art and history design studio based in Laramie, Wyoming.
