The Field Notes
The running record of our work in the field — the partnerships we join, the short-term projects we launch, and the people and events we lend our platform to along the way. If the Anchors are what we tend for years, the Field Notes are what we carry with us week to week.
THE BOY WHO SIGNED THE CLIFF
For thousands of years, on a cliff above Hyattville, generations of Indigenous folks have made petroglyphic marks on the stone. There are a handful of early 20th century names etched into that same stone — including one that reads "Jinks Burgess." We set out to find the person behind that signature, and in the process uncovered the story of a homesteading boy- a story that can know be included in park interpretation.
